Our heroine took a step onto a path which is currently parallel to the previous one, dear Reader. It curves away ahead in the darkness. It’s hard to say what the differences are, but I think it can only be positive.
One of my stories, “Sparkle,” was published by Escape Into Life. Not coincidentally, I became Short Fiction Editor for said zine. EIL gathers a fascinating collection of the arts. Check it out – seriously, check it out. Different every day, every time you click on it. Revolving content. Something’s bound to tickle you in the creativity zone.
Does this new path, with its responsibilities and the publication, make me a writer? Perhaps so. Perhaps I was already. Regardless, I was writing in a vacuum, offering notes occasionally on others’ work, reading about others subbing and getting agents.
This new path leads me away from the insular life. No more writing in a cold garret above a bakery (they made incredible croissants) in my mind. Rather, I’ve escaped into a life of activity, closer contact with other writers and endless inspiration.
Thank you, gentle Reader, for taking this journey with me.
