Friday Forum: The Announcement

There are plenty of weekly compilations of links out there. I know it, you know it. I’ve used them, I hope you have, too. The good ones are terrific resources! Writer’s Digest’s Jane Friedman does one each week. You’ll find another at Shack’s Comings and Goings. Good stuff, highly recommend both of them as gatherings of the best of the previous week’s tweeted links.

I casually posed a question last night on Twitter. “If I posted a weekly set of links specifically for new/unpublished writers, would you be interested?” I got a resounding volley of “yes!” in reply.

Never one to ignore friends in need, dear Reader, our heroine has vowed to put together the Friday Forum.

Each week, the Friday Forum will focus on a certain subject to do with writing and/or publishing. I’ll do some research and show you what I’ve kept for my own use as helpful.

Please let me know by commenting what you’d like to see tackled!

Great, Rob – Welcome! What topics would you like to see me take on? I’m thinking of Character Creation for this Friday’s Forum.

Thanks very much for the mention and I am quite excited about your concept of focusing on just one, reader driven specific area.

My Sunday Wash-Up is after all just a collection of links that stood out from the rest of the tweeting in some way during the week. Primarily intended for writers who have restricted Internet access (due to the day job, etc) and listed in an “as they came” order. Therefore the subjects are diverse.

Very much looking forward to your first post.

A suggestion for first subject? How about ‘critique groups and buddies’.

At the end of my Wash-Up I am now linking to two other regular link posts (as from next Sunday), would you mind if I added your Forum to them?

    Keep up the good scribbling.

Oh, nearly forgot, Shack’s Coming and Goings has moved to a new address. Your side bar is pointing to the old BlogSpot one, which is still there but not receiving any new posts. The address in your post is OK as it is the new one. Sorry to make things awkward but the site needed to grow.

    New blog at

Super to hear from you, Andy! Would love the mention in your Sunday Wash-Up, thanks – and am updating your link in the post and Blogroll even as I type. (Multitasker that I am…)

Congrats on the need to move due to growth!
